“I believe our ancestors left directions and hints in their stories and artwork as avenues to understand ourselves and our roles in today’s world.”
~ Robin Lovelace-Smith

To provide support, share stories and knowledge about cancer and its impact upon our lives, our loved ones’ lives, and our communities, in order to change the story of cancer in our communities.

Sharing knowledge is a value held by many of our Alaska Native communities and that is how this site came to be named – a name that builds upon our strengths and values.

Sharing our Knowledge is a place to share our cancer stories and experiences in order to help one another; those who are currently going through cancer and its treatments, and those who will follow. It is our hope by sharing our experiences and stories that we will change the story of cancer in our Tribal communities.

Sharing Our Knowledge is a not-for-profit organization that was founded by Laura Revels, Tlingit, cancer educator/outreach trainer, digital storyteller trainer and advocate.

Gunalchéesh to the University of Colorado, Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health.  It was through their financial support, training and mentoring that this site was able to come to light.  Gunalchéesh, thank you, for helping Sharing Our Knowledge come to be.

I wish you peace, wellness and strength.

“People are like stained – glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” ~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
